THE spirit of the 1940s was brought to life during a wartime weekend at an East Lancashire railway line.
Rain failed to dampen the enthusiasm of East Lancashire’s Railways popular gatherings, at Rawtenstall, Ramsbottom and Irwell Vale stations.
Actors recreated skirmishes between the Allied and Axis forces.
And history buffs marvelled at vintage and military vehicles, which battled for attention with brass band parades and 1940s fashion displays.
Singer Miss Katie Spitfire dazzled the crowds at the New Hall Hey station on Saturday.
