HUNDREDS of people turned out in Accrington for the town's Christmas lights switch-on tonight.
The sky was set ablaze with thousands of lights and a giant firework display above the Arndale Centre.
The fun began outside the town hall with singing and dancing performances by Accrington and Rossendale College students and actors from Oswaldtwistle Civic Theatre’s production of Cinderella.
As the celebrations got under way, crowds danced along to Don’t Stop Believin' and Rehab performed by Gleek Club, a tribute act to TV show Glee.
The cheers were deafening when at 7.30pm the lights were switched by the performers and Mayor of Hyndburn, Coun Malcolm Pritchard, before the fireworks began.
