Mario & Sonic At The Olympic Games
DS
£29.99
Mario and Sonic are going for gold in the DS version of a game that has already entertained on the Wii.
The game pits the former videogaming rivals together at the world's biggest sporting event, so while the world focuses on Beijing, there's a good chance to try something even more fun.
There is so much variety on offer especially in single-player mode. Try cycling or boxing, basketball or fencing, canoeing or trampoline and you'll find this cartoon romp puts a big smile on your face.
But multiplayer mode has fewer sports on offer and there's a problem at times with the handheld recognising your moves.
Some of the controls are just too simplistic - to spin a hammer you just make a circular motion on the touch-screen, for example - and some of the games are too similar: there's not much between the 100 meter dash and 400 meter dash, for instance.
Still, it's an excellent romp and one that can be picked up and put down at will.
