Review: Curious Cumbrian Walks by Graham Dugdale

Review: Curious Cumbrian Walks by Graham Dugdale Review: Curious Cumbrian Walks by Graham Dugdale

Next time I go running over Cunswick Fell I will do so with some trepidation.

For this book reveals that the hill overlooking Kendal is apparently haunted by Roger de Leyburne, who killed his father to gain the Cunswick estate.

It is intriguing stories like this that can bring a walk to life and Graham Dugdale has uncovered some hidden gems in the 40 rambles he charts in this book.

Mr Dugdale certainly has an eye for a good tale and you do not need to actually do any of the walks to find this book to be an entertaining read.

But that would defeat the object of the exercise, which is designed to get walkers into the countryside.
