IT’S hard work having superpowers if Heroes is anything to go by.

After all, it seems as though the mysterious Company is always out to get you, you are permanently forced to try to hide your powers and living a normal life is impossible.

When Heroes first launched amid massive publicity it was hailed as the next ‘big thing’ in American imports.

Everyone tuned in expecting a cross between Lost and Superman.

Now into its second series, the diehards may have stuck with it but I suspect the less dedicated viewer has long lost interest.

Believe me, I’ve tried to get into it (the better half is a convert and has it on Series Link) but try as I might I just can’t get excited about the exploits of a permanently smiling cheerleader and a crazy Japanese person who can stop time.

To be honest, I think part of my reluctance to give up 45 minutes a week, dates back to when the series launched.

There was such overkill that it bordered on the ridiculous.

I prefer the hidden delights which you come across by accident (I’d cite House, Dexter and most recently Reaper as little gems I’ve stumbled upon).

The other problem with Heroes is that for all its bluster and killer viruses, nothing has really happened in two series.

I’ll stick with Lost!
