This is the time of year to plan visits further afield as the hours of daylight increase and make travelling easier.

Here's a suggestion - The Yorkshire Dales Falconry and Conservation Centre, Crows Nest, near Giggleswick, Settle, North Yorkshire.

This is the place to understand the wonders of our birds of prey.

There are displays of foreign birds with flying displays each day. Our native birds however, are not neglected and there is an active programme dealing with species under threat. These include the peregrine falcon and the barn owl.

There is a shop and a cafe plus good parking and this is a visit not to be rushed. Take all day and don't forget the camera. Birthday parties can also be arranged at the centre.
