I'M confused. I don't know whether this is due to global warming or Mother Nature playing games.
With sleet whipping into my face I found the shelter of the woodland between the Lower Hodder and Higher Hodder Woods and listened to the call of the green woodpecker which was once known as the yaffle and also the rain bird.
I saw quite a good growth of bluebells in flower, which was more typical of May than March.
As I settled down to a sandwich, I became aware of a robin begging for a crumb.
I stretched out my hand and the brave bird sat on my palm and enjoyed its lunch.
I would guess that a more regular human visitor than I to Hodder Woods had made friends with Mr or Mrs Redbreast.
