Jeffrey Wright has revealed he has become “cooler” with his children, after starring in films such as The Hunger Games and The Good Dinosaur.
The father-of-two admitted playing District 3 tribute Beetee in the big-screen adaptation of Suzanne Collins’s books has given him a boost in the cool factor with son Elijah and daughter Juno.
“I get massive, big dinosaur-size props from my kids because I consulted with them when I first heard about the project,” the 49-year-old actor said.
“They just hopped out of their skin with excitement. At this point in my career, this is one of the things that I look for in my choices, films that my kids really can be proud of and enjoy and films that will make me more respected by them and by their friends at school.”
But Jeffrey admitted he wouldn’t be able to pick out which film was more impressive with his children.
“I’m not going to go there! I think they both are equally cool,” he said.
“I won some serious cool points with The Hunger Games, no question about it. I’m hoping to match that here.”
He said watching The Good Dinosaur with his kids proved to be “an experience.”
“Seeing it with my kids was an experience. It’s a film that kids should experience with their parents. It’s a celebration of those bonds, a celebration of the love that family is built on and all of those lessons.”
His co-star Raymond Ochoa, who voices his dinosaur son Arlo, added: “It was an amazing story. It was so impactful on everyone. Once I saw it, I knew I was going to cry – and I did.”
The Good Dinosaur, directed by Peter Sohn, opens in UK cinemas on Friday, November 27.
