David Duchovny has hinted that an X-Files reunion could be well underway.

The actor played Fox Mulder alongside Gillian Anderson as Dana Scully in the popular sci-fi TV show from 1993 to 2002 and has been rumoured to be reprising his role for a reboot.

While appearing on US show The Talk to promote another new project, Aquarius, David gave an idea of what was going on in negotiations for a new X-Files series.

He said: “It looks good. It looks very good. It looks better than it did two weeks ago.”

Meanwhile, Fox TV group chairman Gary Newman has said: “It’s true that we’ve had some conversations on X-Files. We’re hopeful of being able to bring that back at some point.”

Gillian has stayed familiar to UK audiences with a starring role in BBC psychological thriller series The Fall, while David’s Aquarius is due to air in the US this year.

He features as a 60s cop tracking Charles Manson and his family before their infamous murder spree.
