Sam Bailey has said she hasn’t been touched by the negative side of fame because she has stayed grounded.

The Skyscraper singer told the Daily Mirror she is the same person as she was before she won The X Factor in 2013.

Asked if there are downsides to being a star, Sam – whose album The Power Of Love was number one this year – insisted: “No, because I’ve stayed grounded, my life hasn’t changed.

“I did a book signing the other day in Asda, and as soon as it was finished I got a trolley and went shopping. You’d never see Celine Dion doing that.

“I wear my trackies and my Ugg boots at home then that night I can be dolled up performing at the O2.”

Sam welcomed her third child – a daughter she named Miley – in September and said that after the festive season is over her New Year’s resolution is to lose the baby weight.

“I’m not starting now though, there’s no point over Christmas. But I will get in shape for my tour… not to a size 10, but I’ll do my best,” said the 37-year-old.
