THE first wave of bands to play this year’s new music festival In The City in Manchester, from October 13 to 15, have been confirmed.
So far the line-up includes No Age, Mount Kimbie, Male Bonding, Yuck, Crystal Fighters, Factory Floor, oOoOO, White Ring, Skepta, Kisses, Ital Tek, Teeth, Andreya Triana, Mazes, John Weise and Spectrals.
As well as dozens of gigs the festival also includes conferences, and long-time REM manager Bertis Downes will be appearing in conversation with former Warner Music chairman Rob Dickins.
Also appearing will be Jasmine Skee, O2’s head of music sponsorship, speaking with Live Nation’s Chris O’Donnell and SJM’s Chris York and Roc Nation president and co-founder Jay Brown in conversation with Nick Raphael, managing director of Epic Records.
Mike Pickering, Manchester dance music legend and managing director of the newly relaunched Deconstruction Records, will be in conversation with Paul Morley, while there will also be appearances from XL Recordings/Positiva Records co-founder Nick Halkes, Jho Oakley of Jho Management and Caroline Protheroe, the former head of dance for Virgin Records, who now manages David Guetta.
* In The City takes place across various venues in Manchester from Wednesday to Friday, October 13 to 15. Wristbands to watch the bands are currently available at a cost of £22. Delegate passes, allowing full access to the conference and priority access to the festival events, are available from £150 plus VAT.
