DARWEN Brass have continued their fine recent form by taking top spots in the annual Whit Friday march contests in Tameside and Saddleworth, Greater Manchester.
The marches, held last weekend, comprise 24 different contest venues.
Bands try to compete at as many venues as possible during the event – playing a piece, then jumping back on to the coach as quickly as possible to move on to the next venue.
Darwen Brass played Cornish Cavalier by W E Moyle at seven venues.
They took second prize at Audenshaw and first prize at Droylsden.
Spokesman for the band Neville Hounslow said: “This is a great result for the band to follow on from the earlier win at the Greenfield contest a couple of weeks ago.”
