ONE of the driving forces behind Live Aid will be heading to the Ribble Valley in February for a solo show.

Midge Ure, the Ultravox frontman, is the latest big name to be announced at Hurst Green Village Hall.

Midge, best known for hits such as Vienna, comes to Hurst Green on Friday, February 28.

His show will be the first of a series of gigs being promoted by Goosnargh-based Hollow Horse Events which aims to bring national names to local venues.

Midge said: “It’s wonderful to play a venue where people can hear the words as well as the rhythm.”

Other gigs already confirmed at Hurst Green are former Icicle Works frontman Ian McNabb on Friday, March 28 and the original members of Dodgy playing one of only three UK dates to launch their greatest hits album the night after.

Also heading to Hurst Green will be singer-songwriter Nick Harper on Friday, May 16 and Ian Prowse of the band Amsterdam, who will be launching a new solo album on Saturday, May 17.

Support for the Ian Prowse gig will be Ribble Valley acoustic duo The Remedy, winners of the Telegraph-backed Reidy’s Talent Contest in 2013.
