JOHN Robb, who fronts Lancashire punk band Goldblade, has released a charity festive single, City of Christmas Ghosts, in memory of his late friend Poly Styrene.

The record features a duet with the founder of punk legends X-Ray Spex, who recorded the song with Robb before her death from cancer in 2011.

“For us the song stands as a tribute to one our dear friends, a remarkable and inspiring woman who was both a friend and an inspiration when we were young and one of the greatest lyrical and singing talents of the punk generation,” said Robb.

“Some of the money raised will go to St Michaels Hospice, who nursed Poly through her illness, and other charities.”
