THE full line-up has been revealed for the Ribble Valley Jazz Festival over the May Day Bank Holiday weekend.

Leading the way are Liane Carroll, voted best vocalist at the British Jazz Awards 2012, and the James Taylor Quartet.

Now in its fourth year, the festival will run from Friday, May 3 to Monday, May 6 and there will be live performances at 11 different venues around the Ribble Valley.

For the first time there will also be a street festival in Castle Street, Clitheroe, on Saturday, May 4 featuring a variety of performances from local groups and bands.

The Grand and Atrium Cafe Bar will be the main paid venues for the festival with other pubs, cafes and restaurants hosting festival events. And, for the first time Chipping Village Hall will also host a festival event when local blues cover band Freebird perform on the opening Friday night.

Headlining the festival on Saturday night will be the Liane Carroll Trio. The award-winning singer and piano plyers who has appeared at venues as diverse as the world famous Ronnie Scott’s Club in London and the Galstonbury Festival respresents a real coup for festival organisers and the show, at the Grand on Saturday, May 4, looks destined to be a sell-out.

The headliners the following night are also likely to atract music lovers from all over the North West. The James Taylor Quartet are one of the country’s leading jazz-pop crossover outfit featuring James Taylor on Hammond and lead vocalist Yvonne Yanney.

Other treats lined up for the four-day event are festival president Paul Rigby leading the Northern Jazz Orchestra and featuring vocalist James Loughlin to present the Magic of Michael Buble; the Georgina Jackson Quartet and Neil Yates paying tribute to trumpeter Freddie Hubbard.

The festival will also see the debut of the Ribble Valley Jazz Collective featuring local musicians of all ages.

A number of dinner jazz events will also be hold enabling music lovers to dine and be entertained by various live performances and there will be a series of workshops over the four days.

Organised by Ribble Valley Jazz and Blues Club, the Rose and Crown in Clitheroe will once again be hosting a blues ateg to run during the festival featrung Kiki de Ville and the Cadillacs, the Mighty Revelators and Junkhousedog Blues Band.

This year the festival has introduced a “Rover” ticket, enabling music lovers to attend all the concerts on the programme which are available for £80 (£70 members).
