Games review: Army Of Two: The 40th Day (Xbox 360, £49.99)

By David Crookes »

The original Army Of Two title promised much as a co-operative action shooter, but fell some way short of delivering the goods.

It was back to the drawing board and, with all the right tweaks made, The 40th Day certainly goes a long way to reinstating the series as an excellent action title worthy of making its way into your collection.

Just looking at the development of the “pimp your weapon” system, the layers of additional depth here speak volumes for how all areas of this title have been fine-tuned to raise their game — from the eye-popping disaster movie setting to stronger partner AI and a much better multiplayer mode.

Blasting your way through Shanghai over the course of a few days will simply whistle past you, but there’s plenty more to go back for thanks to the mode improvements. Well worth a look. 4/5
