Gladiators Ready! The Gladiators Story, Sky One

YOU can hardly flick through the channels at the moment without stumbling across something to do with Gladiators.

Not that I'm complaining: I'm loving the opportunity to reminisce about the orange-hued muscle machines and all the fun I used to have on Saturday nights cheering on the latest contenders.

Since it was announced Gladiators is back this weekend, Sky One has gone into promo meltdown, dredging out all the old Gladiators out of retirement to talk about their time on the show.

It's like a version of I Love the 80s but a million times better.

Last night's Gladiators Ready! The Gladiators Story shared lots of little pearls, including how the hotel the Gladiators stayed in had to ban fake tans because it was staining the sheets so badly.

Last week's A to Z of Gladiators stirred up even more memories: Eunice Huthart, Shadow's death stare, referee John Anderson and of course those foam fingers: oh how I longed for one of those.

And how great it was to howl and point at the TV when the Gladiators as they are now popped up to share their opinions.

I tell you something, Hunter might have been the sexiest Gladiator back in the day, but I doubt he'd snare Ulrika Johnson now with that receding hairline.

I just hope the show's as good as the run-up has been.
