BLACKBURN rockers, New York Tourists, continued their meteoric rise through the Manchester music scene on Saturday at the Deaf Institute.

Playing to a near-capacity crowd, the indie-pop outfit brought their exciting set to the city, owning the stage and claiming the audience, many of whom travelled from Darwen and Blackburn to witness the band on their national mini tour.

The four-piece played an acidic, action-packed set, to a crowd full of energy, shouting ‘NYT! NYT!’ between numbers. The pounding drums and melodic bass complimented the guitars in an irresistibly danceable atmosphere.

The Tourists’ performance of their latest single, Feels So Good’ tore the roof off the vintage Mancunian venue, with its upbeat verses and riff-driven chorus, topped with the glittery vocals of frontman, Gary Taylor, the band’s standout quality.

Released the day before the gig through with Scruff Of The Neck records, promoters of the gig, the single set the tone for what to expect from NYT, who will be playing at The British Sound Project alongside Foals (DJ set), White Lies, and The Horrors at the Victoria Warehouse, Manchester, in September.

Support came from fast-rising pop-rockers, Mayflower, and The Opera Comic, joined by Meihaus.

‘Feels So Good’ is available on Spotify and iTunes.
