TUESDAY marks a milestone in the blossoming career of Ribble Valley singer songwriter Hannah Spurgeon.

For she will officially launching her new EP with a show in Manchester and revealing a major change in musical direction.

Previously one half of the award-winning duo The Remedy, Hannah is now going solo under the name Indigo Rose and she admits that her new sound will surprise fans of The Remedy.

“I’ve always loved artists like Joni Mitchell,” she said, “but I also like the Cocteau Twins and performers who are a bit edgy.

“The new EP still has that ethereal sound to it but there are other influences at play too from 80s electro sounds to fuzzy guitars. I’m so excited about the Cold Spell EP and I can’t wait to play the songs live.”

A self-confessed perfectionist, Hannah has been hard at work writing and honing her new sound in the studio alongside producer Roo Walker.

The EP was then mastered at the world famous Abbey Road Studios.

“That was an amazing experience,” said Hannah. “Roo has worked with the engineers there before and we were invited down to master the EP there. You can sense the history of the place the moment you walk up the steps to the front door.

“I’m thrilled by the end result. The time was just right for me to head out on my own and the Cold Spell represents the direction I want to go with my music.”

Hannah, who teaches guitar to help fund her musical ambitions, said she had deliberately chosen to launch the EP in Manchester rather than the Ribble Valley.

“I need to establish myself in areas where I’m not well known,” she said. “This is what I want to do and I want to give it my best shot.”

The launch of Indigo Rose’s Cold Spell EP is at the Castle Hotel, Oldham Street, Manchester. For details and to buy the EP visit the website musicindigorose.com
