ELLA Shaw wowed Simon Cowell with her own song Summertime and now she is banking on her new album storming up the charts in the autumn.

The 19-year-old musician from Langho in the Ribble Valley, amazed Britain’s Got Talent judges with her rendition of Summertime on the blockbuster TV show, with music guru Cowell telling her: ‘I think you’re mega, mega talented.'

Ella, has revealed she will be releasing her new self-penned debut album, Imperfections, with a launch show at Clitheroe’s Grand Theatre in September.

She said: “The whole thing, Britain’s Got Talent, was pretty insane.

“I’d go to Blackburn or Manchester shopping and people would stop me saying, ‘Hey. That’s the girl off the TV, can I have your autograph?

“It is a pretty amazing thing when you are so young.

She added: “Britain’s Got Talent gave me the confidence to pursue my dream, but while it gave me an incredible platform it didn’t help me as much as people might think.

“One of my main goals in life is to help people believe in their dreams and that means so much to me personally.

“What I do isn’t for me.”

One of the ten songs on the album, Drop of Rain, tells of Ella’s torment as she went bald at the age of 11, suffering from alopecia.

Ella recovered from the stress related condition three years later.

“The new album is like a diary I suppose, I’m putting a lot of myself out there, and sharing it with people,” she said.

The dream began when she was encouraged to audition for a local production of the hit musical Annie.

Who would have guessed the shy little girl whose heart was breaking whilst losing all her hair would be successful and capture so many hearts?

“You just dig deep in life when you get a setback and it has helped me become the person I am today,” said Ella.

“I’m very driven, I’d be heartbroken if the album wasn’t a success after all the hard work, but you never know do you?

“I constantly ask why I’m doing it, but it is the dream you follow isn’t?

“I could go out and get an office job but I’d never be happy.

“I like singing and never loved listening to music as much, but I can’t describe how happy I feel about Imperfections.

“I was very scared about doing the album, but when I listened to it, for the first time in my life I was so proud to hear myself sing.”

The former pupil at St Augustine’s High School Billington, and who played her first show at a tiny venue in Brockhall six years ago, now has a worldwide fan club.

“I had a tough time at school, and there’s so many really talented kids, many who don’t get the encouragement they deserve and they think that they don’t amount to much.

“When I see children I say to them, ‘Never give up on your dream.’

“I grew up in Blackburn and we didn’t have much, but my parents were so driven, such great role models for us.

“I just one day want to give it back to them, what they’ve invested in me, the time and everything really.

“My dad is my number one fan, but he’s also my chief critic.

“He says he likes the album a lot, so that’s good enough for me.

“I just hope Imperfections can give me the big break.”
