RIBCAGED Productions had such a success last festive season with their production of A Dickensian Christmas, which was performed in Ribchester and at Whalley Abbey, that it has been decided to re- visit the famous writings of Charles Dickens and other authors from the same period this Christmas.

Old favourite A Christmas Carol will be included, but there are also new pieces and sketches with a festive appeal.

The contribution that Dickens made to the spirit and popular appeal of Christmas with his stories, particularly the redemption of the miser Scrooge, is well known.

The stories were originally written for papers and his magazine in episodic form, but were so popular that Dickens devised his own public readings which he performed himself.

Scenes from Nicholas Nickleby, The Old Curiosity Shop, Great Expectations and others will be enacted and “guest” writers such as Anne Bronte and the well-loved diary of Mr Pooter will also be represented.

Get yourselves into the Christmas spirit with an evening of reminiscence, fun and poignancy at one of the venues and dates listed below Ribcaged is delighted to be spreading its wings even further through the North West.

Tickets for all venues are available from Ribcaged on 01254 878479 or 01200 429256 or, in the cases of Barnoldswick,Grindleton and Alston Hall, from the venues themselves.

Alston Hall ( 01772 784661) is also offering a terrific package of dinner beforehand and ,if required, bed and breakfast for anyone who wants to make a night of it..
