PAT Barker's Regeneration is being performed at The Grand Theatre, Blackpool, to mark the centenary of the start of the First World War.
The work is adapted by Olivier Award-winning playwright Nicholas Wright and directed by Simon Godwin.
Its plot centres on Craiglockhart War Hospital in Scotland in 1917. Poet and soldier Siegfried Sassoon has been institutionalised in an attempt to undermine his public disapproval of the war. His army psychiatrist, Dr William Rivers, has been tasked with returning shell-shocked officers to the trenches and yet, under Sassoon’s influence, he has become tormented by the morality of what is being done in the name of medicine.
The play is recommended for those aged 14 and over and runs from November 25 to 28.
