COLNE Town Council is extending the music vibe of the 25th Great British Rhythm and Blues Festival by staging its popular GreenRock Concert the following weekend, on Saturday, August 30.

Held on Colne’s Millennium Green, off Shaw Street in Waterside, the Council’s Events Committee has devised a bumper schedule of acts, giving diverse musical performances from noon until 7pm.

The Committee’s Chair, Coun Dorothy Lord, explained: “As usual, this is an all-inclusive event, with the Millennium Green being fully accessible for young and old and the disabled. This year, we are asking people not to bring their dogs. We want families to bring their chairs and picnic blankets and enjoy the entertainment. We would like to thank Colne Tyre Centre for their generous sponsorship.”

Although GreenRock is free, there is a strict limit on numbers, so the Council is calling on GreenRockers to turn up promptly by noon.

Local businesses are attending to keep the GreenRockers fed and watered. There will be an extensive range of burgers, wraps, sandwiches and drinks and, in anticipation of good weather, ice cream and candy floss. After rave reviews at the last two GreenRocks, thecouncil has also secured the services of a popular facepainting duo.
