As one of the most highly regarded trumpeters and innovative classical musicians of her generation, Alison Balsom has spent the last decade performing in the world’s most prestigious venues.

But this year, fans can see her at the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester, on October 2.

She will also be releasing her most ambitious album to date.

After becoming the first British woman to win Gramophone Magazine’s prestigious Artist of the Year award, she co-hosted the 2014 BBC Young Musician of the Year competition, the final for which was broadcast on BBC Four, and is a major advocate for music education and encouraging people of all ages to take up an instrument and to attend more concerts.

On tour, Alison will be joined by a handpicked band of musicians to perform an eclectic mix of repertoire from Bach to Gershwin and from Satie to Legrand.

She says: “To be going out on the road, presenting a show which goes from Bach to Gershwin is an absolute thrill.

“Over the past few weeks, I have been working with Guy Barker on the new album fusing the worlds of classical and jazz which has been an extraordinary creative process. Some of the songs such as Autumn Leaves have really taken me to a new place and so I cannot wait to take some of the songs from the album on tour."

Alison was also the first ever-classical female artist to headline Latitude Festival last summer.
