Lancashire Telegraph review by Jemma Humphreys from Wednesday, August 10, 2011
You’re not bowled over with the choice on offer at Cissy Greens.
But despite a small selection of sandwiches and pies, what they do serve is of a good quality.
And who can argue with a breakfast deal including a cup of tea or coffee and a bacon butty for £2?
The sandwich choices are simple.
Cheese, ham, tuna, or sliced chicken and turkey.
I ordered a cheese salad for myself and a tuna salad for my friend and colleague, and both were made fresh while I waited.
The brown bread roll was soft and the filling made for a generous serving for £2.50 (including an extra 60p for salad.) The tuna was also a hearty portion and was very well received.
The sweets however aren’t their speciality, the carrot cake and chocolate chip flapjack we sampled were a little disappointing.
With an overdose of butterscotch cream icing on the cake and a rather dry flapjack, they weren’t among the best we’ve tasted.
The pies seem to be where it’s at, three orders came in during the five minutes I waited for my sandwich to be made, so perhaps we should return and try out what they do best.
