THANKS to the happy and nearly always pleasurable knack of penning these weekly words quite a few of my mates reckon my diet consists entirely of kebabs and fried chicken - maybe even at the same time.

Most weeks, I admit, that these few words are pretty much taken up by kebabs, the odd pizza, fried chicken but never salad. That is just how the Lancashire Telegraph’s king of features wants it - and that is just what he gets.

But now the cricket season is over, I decided to be a little bit rebellious for one week only and instead of tucking into a large mixed doner I went all posh, well posh for me.

The Taste of India in Barrowford has developed one heck of a reputation and I decided to pay the takeaway a visit.

I can be a little picky with a lot of Indian food but one meal I have eaten and liked in the past is a Pasanda, a traditional dish with the meat or chicken flattened into strips, marinated, and fried with multiple seasonings.

I went for the chicken variety with almonds and mild spices - I don’t like to get too carried away - and after a 10 or 15 minute wait a cracking meal arrived.

It was creamy and absolutely bob on and well worth the trip into Barrowford for.
