A BIG kebab may not exactly be the most healthy meal you could eat — but it can certainly tick all the boxes on a wet and miserable night.
And few takeaways do big kebabs just as well as the Nile Original.
I have written good things about the Nile in the past and I admit I am a fan but, checking my records — this isn’t just thrown together, you know — I realised it is around a year since my last visit.
A lot can happen in 11 days in the takeaway world — so 11 months is equivalent to several lifetimes.
Thankfully, little has changed.
The shop is busy and the open plan kitchen was a hive of activity.
I opted for a mixed special kebab in a naan and 15 minutes later I was heading out with a pizza box stuffed with a beast of a big kebab.
The chicken, steak and doner meat was all piping hot, the naan was fresh — I had watched it being cooked — and the salad was a nice nod to healthy eating-ish.
Add nuclear hot chilli sauce to the mix with complimentary fries and a tin of pop and there was a meal to fill.
It may not win approval from the vegetablists — but my word, it’s good.
