ASK many people in Blackburn town centre where Cardwell Place is and the majority would probably struggle to tell you.

It is the little town centre street behind the boarded-up Malt pub that since the traffic direction around Blackburn College was switched has become quite a bit busier.

The street could do with a tidy-up with a couple of shop fronts having seen better days.

And Perfect Fried Chicken is could benefit from a spot of polish and elbow grease.

But when you are hungry and realise that you really don’t fancy a walk in the drizzle to your intended takeaway target, any port in a storm.

PFC, complete with a cartoon funky chicken on the cover of its menu, wouldn’t normally appeal, mainly as I am not the biggest fan of fried chicken.

A scan of the menu offered the usual staple of pizza (no thanks) and burgers (again no, especially the veggie burger option) as well as all the usual assortment of deep fried chicken.

So I opted for the Value Box meal, a £3.99 deal of two chicken pieces, three PFC wings from what had to be the strangest looking chicken in the world, fries and a tin of pop.

The chicken was OK, albeit a touch tough, and the fries - with the seemingly obligatory red salt - passable.

You will eat much worse for a larger price from some town takeaways but the PFC shop could do with a makeover. Maybe next time I will get it delivered.
