AS the saying goes; good things come to those who wait.

And if you leave ordering a Friday night takeaway until gone 8pm you’ve got to be getting your hopes up for a tasty meal.

A week before pay day, the great deals from Royal Spice called out from the pile of menus in the kitchen drawer.

Meal deal two was our choice.

For £15.95, you get poppadoms and chutneys, chicken tikka and onion bhaji starters, a choice of any two main dishes, pilau rice, Bombay potato and a naan bread.

The bhajis were a touch greasy, but were still crisp and tasty, and it was a nice touch to see poppadoms and chutneys included in the deal.

For mains, we had chicken rogan josh and chicken korma – this usually disappointing choice by the husband was, on this occasion, a perfect balance to the hotter-than-usual rogan.

The rogan josh was packed with chunks of fresh tomato and onion and flecked with fresh herbs, as well as a generous helping of chilli, and the korma was flavoursome in its own way.

The chicken pieces in each were delightfully tender and moist too, while the potatoes were well cooked without disintegrating into stodge.

Our delivery took the best part of an hour to arrive, but we were told that on ordering, so no problems there.

Portions were big, and my Saturday lunch of the leftover curries mixed together was just as delicious.
