A COUPLE of years ago I had one of my worst dining experiences when I got a takeaway from Chang’s in Blackburn’s Darwen Street.

It had been a regular haunt of mine but one night I went in was actually shocked at the chaotic service, which had always been good, and that was before I had even eaten my meal.

However, two years is a lifetime in takeaway terms and a couple of mates have been telling me that Chang’s has improved. It had to. But I was still a little sceptical.

The other night after a late shift I had the pangs of hunger that a kebab wouldn’t cure so I decided to head into Chang’s for a nice and simple special fried rice.

The restaurant was fairly busy, which was an improvement on my previous visit, and I had to wait about 15 minutes, which was fine after a long day.

My meal arrived with complimentary prawn crackers and I headed off home to get stuck in.

Special fried rice is a staple of any Chinese and I am happy to report that this version was much better than the previous instalment.

It was filling and actually tasted fresh, again a huge improvement on two years ago.

I don’t know if Chang’s will ever make it back onto my regular list but as a one-off when hungry it ticked the boxes.
