ONE of the problems of penning takeaway reviews is that some people actually believe that my entire diet consists solely of pies and kebabs.
Okay, I admit that I am particularly partial to a kebab – and what northern chap doesn’t like pies? So maybe it is easy to become stereotyped.
But, contrary to belief, I am also partial to a Chinese. The problem in this area, though, is that quite a lot of such takeaways can be unreliable.
That is never an accusation that can be levelled at Wokstar.
Opposite Ewood Park, the shop is always pretty busy and I know from previous experience that the food is well up there.
So fancying a change I opted for a roast duck with cashew nuts dish with fried rice.
It certainly isn’t the cheapest takeaway you will find and the service isn’t exactly express — but that isn’t a bad thing as the food is cooked fresh.
And when I got it home the dish didn’t disappoint.
The duck was cooked to perfection in a lovely sauce and the cashew nuts go really well in a fried dish.
The rice was also delicious and there was certainly enough to go round.
The Wokstar really is a shining example.
