REGULAR readers of this column – and yes, there are a few of those cherished people – will be well aware that I rarely venture too far away from a kebab shop.
Sometimes I do have a Chinese and, in the past, I have also eaten a salad – although if I remember rightly that was to honour a bet.
But the other night I fancied something different from the usual mixed grill in a naan.
So while in Burnley I thought I would try an Indian that has come with high recommendation. But you know what thought did...and I found the restaurant and takeaway both closed.
So instead I dived into the nearest non-kebab option, Domino’s Pizza.
Folk rave about Domino’s but not being the biggest pizza eater and far from adventurous I plumped for a nice and simple cheese and tomato one.
It took an age to prepare but I suppose that shows it is fresh and when I got it home it was still warm so I tucked in with an open mind.
It was okay, although there wasn’t a great deal of either cheese or tomato on the topping and I have tasted better pizza bases from a supermarket fridge freezer.
It was also quite expensive, although the staff did at least upgrade me for free to a large rather than the ordered medium.
I would have been happier with the smaller one to be honest.
