Lancashire Telegraph review by Simone Yates from August 8, 2011

I LOVE a good Sunday roast, but this week I couldn’t be bothered to cook one on a hot Sunday afternoon.

So The Duke of Wellington’s crown carvery was the quickest fix and without having to book, we were seated straight away in the conservatory.

Although a roast was on the cards, we were very tempted from the main menu that offers everything from salads and sandwiches, to steak and gammon.

The service was just as pleasant as the menu and after ordering drinks and food at the bar it was time to join the queue.

I was carved a generous slice of beef from a choice of three roasts, including gammon and turkey that was tender and tasty and perfectly pink in the middle.

With all you can eat vegetables, there was plenty to choose from, although I avoided the roasties looking like they’d been there for a while.

And without forgetting you veggies there’s a meat free version for £3.39.

But for only £6.79 you can’t grumble and although you serve yourself, there’s always a waitress on hand to take drinks and desert orders.

That’s why I was tempted by a Belgian waffle, served with fluffy cream and a scoop of ice-cream for just £3.35.
