Lancashire Telegraph review by Donna Mackenzie from March 5, 2011.

THE former Coach and Horses has undergone an extensive redevelopment to bring a taste of Italy to Oswaldtwistle.

And although the location, on a sharp bend on Haslingden Old Road, may seem an odd spot for a restaurant, it is one definitely worth a visit.

Inside, the restaurant is light and modern, although perhaps a little too minimalist for me.

But the service is professional and friendly and there has been no holding back on the extensive menu.

There are 15 starters — plus breads, olives and a specials board — and more than 40 main courses to choose from.

We went for the bruschetta (topped with fresh tomato, chopped basil, garlic and parmesan shavings — £4.25), which was deliciously fresh and flavoursome, and garlic mushrooms (£4.95), which were tasty without being too overpowering.

Both were decent sized portions but not so big that they ruined our appetite for the mains.

We then had the conchiglioni ripieni (oven baked pasta filled with spinach and ricotta in a rich cheese and tomato sauce — £7.50) and pollo royale (chicken breast cooked in white wine and cream sauce, wild mushrooms and spring onions with fresh veg on the side — £11.50).

Both were piping hot and oozing with flavour. In fact the people on the next table said it was just like being in Italy - something I sadly wouldn’t know!

Feeling particularly greedy, although we really didn’t have much room left, we followed up with Italian ice cream, chocolate fudge cake and coffee.

At just under £40 for three courses each — plus drinks — we’ll definitely be back.
