HALF-term was coming to an end and we needed a venue to fill one rainy afternoon as well as some hungry bellies.

It’s a restaurant that provides family fun and food and gives the adults a chance to chat whilst the children enjoy playing in the fun factory for just £2 per child.

Because it’s a Brewers Fayre there’s a selection of deals on their menu including two for £10, available Monday to Friday, noon-6.30pm.

The meal deals are good value.

It’s the traditional pub grub dishes that are included such as fish and chips, gammon and egg and scampi.

For a refreshing change and a slightly healthier alternative, I opted for a grilled chicken and bacon salad, £7.49.

It’s served with cucumber, red pepper, tomato, red onion and a drizzle of lemon and herb dressing.

The portion was larger than I expected and the bacon was thick and tasty but today the chickenwas a bit on the chewy side.

So, on this occasion, I didn’t eat all of my meat – an instruction that I have always followed.

The children’s menu is great, and mine were happy to polish off the fish goujons with chips and peas followed by an ice cream and chocolate brownie. Brewsters do a meal deal – a main and starter or dessert for £4.49, which is excellent value.

The bar area is inviting. However it’s clear to see that the restaurant is in need of a lick of paint.

We sat outside the fun factory and the radiator and skirting boards weren’t the cleanest. The carpet has also seen better days.

The staff are friendly and often seem rushed off their feet, but as long as the kids are happy, so am I.
