EXPERT bakers are looking for people with top notch tastebuds to share a slice of their sell-out pies.

Pastry and pie specialists at Clayton Park Bakery are hoping to put together an A Team of taste testers as they develop new flavours.

The Hyndburn-based bakers are suppliers of pies and pasties to football fans at Accrington Stanley, Everton FC, Liverpool FC, Blackburn Rovers and Oldham Athletic, as well as supplying supermarkets Spar and Booths.

The launch of the new volunteer taste testing panel coincides with the firm’s move into a second base at Huncoat, giving the company the chance to develop new lines.

General manager Brian Ashworth said: “We thoroughly test all of our products to make sure they are the best quality and taste they can be.

“We really value the feedback from our panels so would be delighted to hear from people who are passionate about their pies and care about their cakes.”

The bakery is offering the chance to groups of up to 10 people to spend some time sampling products in return for feedback and some freebies.

Volunteer testers could also be involved in developing brand new flavours.

Clayton Park Bakery was established in Clayton le Moors in 1995. As well as supermarkets and football clubs, the bakery supplies hundreds of small shops across Lancashire and the north of England.

The company makes 15 different varieties of meat pies, as well as pasties, sausage rolls, 25 types of cakes and a range of bread, morning goods and sandwiches. The company is best known for its jam slice and famous pepper steak pie.
