FOUR of us went to Mangiamo’s to take advantage of the mid-week offers that Darwen’s favourite Italian restaurant is famous for.
And this week we were lucky enough to turn up when they were having a January sale (on the food not the furniture)!
Specialising in Mediterranean and Italian cuisine the deal was purse-friendly where you buy any starter and get your main for meal half price.
With a wine of the week, cocktail of the month and Prosecco by the glass for just £4.50 the drinks’ specials were almost as good as the food offers.
The menu had something for everyone and our starters were all just under £5 – garlic mushrooms, grilled haloumi and chorizo, meatballs and beans.
And I went for grilled goats’ cheese, served on a rocket salad, with caramelized onions and a balsamic glaze: A perfectly light starter, ready to be followed by a substantial main.
Needless to say we went for the steak menu, apart from my friend who had a Pizza Calazone – a perfect pizza for a pregnant lady; jam-packed with cheese, tomatoes, ham, salami and mushrooms.
I had Filetto Al Pepe, deliciously served in a creamy peppercorn sauce, accompanied by vegetables.
The usual price would be £16.90 and I’d be happy to pay this for a quality piece of fillet steak again.
I must admit I have always been a fan of Mangiamo having been a ‘regular’ for many years, the atmosphere is warming and the decor looks well – and if it’s your birthday you’re always in for a sparkling treat!
All-in-all Mangiamo is a great night for a girls’ night out and it’s also perfect for families.
The most impressive thing was the bill – for just £75 us four ladies left feeling full and happy!
