Lancashire Telegraph review by Kimberley Hall from October 9, 2010.

One of my ‘foodie’ friends revealed this little restaurant to me, so four of us joined her to put it to the test.

I like choice, but with tapas the list of dishes can sometimes seem endless.

There was no such problem here, as Sunday to Thursday it is just under a tenner for as many dishes from the choice of 44 as you like, ordering a maximum of four at a time.

The dishes come in individual portion sizes, so first up I went for patatas bravas — in my opinion the benchmark of any good tapas place — carne Espanola (beef) and garlic bread with cheese.

The beef was tender and spicy, the garlic bread disappeared very quickly and the patatas bravas did not disappoint.

My next choices were fried white fish, as one of the girls ordered her second dish of it, pan fried chorizo in red wine and paella rice with chicken and vegetables.

These three proved equally popular, though I enjoyed the other two more than the paella.

Finally I only had room for one more dish and chose the calamari, which came in a very light batter and wasn’t overcooked — a pet hate of mine.

The others named the king prawns, salads and mushroom dishes as hits too, and we were very impressed with all the dishes we sampled, and how quickly they arrived.

The reasonably-priced house red and white wine also went down a treat.

It’s safe to say La Salsa has gained five new fans.
