Lancashire Telegraph review by Kimberley Hall from June 11, 2011.

A bit of Saturday shopping requires some sustenance beforehand and, with a new chef and tweaked menu at The Bridge, we decided to put them to the test.

There are all the favourites you'd expect on the menu; toasties, omelettes, hot and cold sandwiches, homemade soup and proper dinners like steak and kidney pudding, mixed grill and an all-day breakfast that looked like it would keep you full all day for under £6.

Bacon, sausage, egg, beans, black pudding, toast, hash browns, tomatoes and mushrooms filled the huge plates served to the couple sat next to us.

We homed in on the burgers, a veggie (£4.75) and bacon and cheeseburger (£5.25).

They both came in a toasted square ciabatta, which I preferred to the usual huge bun I can never finish.

There were also a couple of gherkins and a touch of spicy salsa inside.

There was no skimping on the freshly-cooked skin-on chips, or homemade coleslaw.

And while I'm not the biggest onion ring fan, these were good and I ate the lot.

A pet hate of mine is limp and soggy side salad but that was not the case here; the crunchy lettuce, ripe tomato and crisp red onion were a perfect accompaniment.

My veggie burger was crammed with potato and vegetables, crispy on the outside with plenty of texture.

I couldn't finish my plate, unlike my boyfriend who cleared the lot in half the time.

Adding the good food to the insanely large choice of world beers and spirits, there's no doubt we'll be back.
