THE eighth Pendle Beer Festival will open its doors to the public from Thursday to Saturday, February 2 to 4.

This year’s ‘Champions’ theme means many local, regional and national award-winning beers will be showcased.

More than 75 real ales and ciders will be available to sample at the festival which was last year visited by more than 23,000 people.

Pendle Leisure Trust has made Colne’s Muni Theatre available and there will be a number of Pendleside Hospice fundraising events.

This year’s festival includes an exclusive ladies-only evening.

The preview event for women takes place on Wednesday, February 1, from 7.30pm. The event is an opportunity for women to try real ale in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Women will be able to try a variety of different beer styles and enjoy a tour around the beer festival hall before the doors officially open on the Thursday.

Karen Pashley, a volunteer at the festival, said: “With so many beers available it’s difficult to decide which ones to try.

“This event will provide an introduction to beer styles and will help women to find their favourites whilst they sample some great beers.”

The event takes place in the Lesser Muni and tickets are £10, available from Karen on 01282 870152.

All proceeds go to Pendleside Hospice.
