A nude photo of filmmaker Roman Polanski and his wife Sharon Tate just months before her murder is due to be sold at auction next month.

The black and white photo by David Bailey will be sold by Christie's in New York on December 7.

It shows the topless couple embracing.

Christie's estimates that the 33 X 33.25in (84 X 84.5cm) print will sell for 8,000 to 12,000 dollars (£4,799 to £7,199).

Tate was murdered in 1969 by followers of Charles Manson.

Polanski, 76, is currently in Switzerland - where he was arrested in September - and is fighting extradition to the US for having sex with a 13-year-old girl in 1977.
