Volunteers helped distribute 180 Christmas presents to children who were spending Christmas in hospital.

Organised by the Abu Faisal Trust (founded and run by Nadia Mohammed) and Shakeel Choudhry aka the Selfie King, the team raised £1,625 to buy the presents.

The presents were then very kindly wrapped by twenty volunteers at the H&S Interiors offices in Blackburn.

“We'd like to say a huge thank you to Shakeel and Nadia and the group from Blackburn who made such a big effort to spread some joy at this time of year.

“It is greatly appreciated - and we're looking forward to seeing you again in 2017!”

Cllr Noordad Aziz said, 'I commend all the volunteers and the charity for making it happen, especially Nadia and Shakeel whose dedication and delivery was simply magnificent and the smiles on the young children faces is testament to that.

“I also think given the current climate we live in, projects likes this are a vital way of bringing communities together and shows a united community.

“This type of work is triumph over the people that want to divide us. I hope this is a start of a long lasting intiativie that will blossom and grow."
