IT'S that time of the year. The weather is starting to get cooler and the children are back to school.

Costing all parents a fortune in the holidays and then it’s the dreaded uniform shop.

I’m a hairstylist as you all well know.

My first client of the day is my daughter who is 9 years old going on 16 (some say she takes after me). Every morning at 7.30 am I spend 5 minutes doing a quick and easy hairstyle on Millie’s beautiful long locks.

She tells me what style she wants that morning.

I have heard her saying: "Mummy you don’t know what you're doing."

Millie gets her hair inspiration from other hair bloggers and magazines from around the world.

Once I have styled her hair she then uploads it on to her Instagram account and blogs about her hair.

When we went to school we had ponytails. are a thing of the past.

Now it’s all about the different types of hair braids and plaits.

So many different types of plaits now available.

We love a good French plait to a fishtail plait braid.

How to do a lace plait: Take a small section at the start of the parting and split it in to three.

Start your braid here and cross the right section over the middle, then the left over the right.

As with a French braid, start to add in a small section of the hair only from one side.

Angle the braid around the back of your hair as you want the braid to sit nicely on the back of your head. Secure with a bobble.
