A trendy new restaurant offering a real taste of India has opened in the exclusive Spinningfields quarter in Manchester.

Scene Dining opened only two months ago and already has been inundated with wedding and mehndi bookings, as well as outside catering. The restaurant seats 150 people with an additional seating capacity of 120 in the garden terrace.

Managing director, Asif Ali said they have been overwhelmed with the response since they opened. “Customers are doing the marketing for us! They come to eat and then tag us on photos on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter when they share their food selfies!”

Scene Dining is a family run business owned by two brothers. The name was chosen to reflect the theatrical atmosphere, courtesy of an open plan kitchen, in keeping with the décor which displays original artwork by local Manchester artists.

The restaurant has quickly become renowned for its authentic street food served in a contemporary setting. “Many Indian restaurants fuse their dishes to accommodate a milder palate. We have brought authenticity back to Indian food.

“Street food is so popular in India and Pakistan. We have brought those dishes here to Manchester.

“Our recipes are authentic. We haven’t adapted those recipes. Customers love the thalis, pani pooree and all the chaats.

“We are not like other Indian restaurants. We want to keep changing the menu, adding new and exciting things to it.

“We also have traditional dishes on the menu which are firm favourites. We want it to be an extraordinary experience for the customer.”

With a unique menu, rustic décor and vintage Bollywood posters, Scene Dining completes its novel appeal with a cocktail specialist who can create bespoke drinks to the wish of each customer.

“If you want to create your own drink, the cocktail specialist will come to your table and will listen to the types of flavours that you like and will then customise the drink for you.

“We have three chefs that specialise in street food and two further chefs whose forte is the traditional menu.”

Asif reveals that a shisha lounge will be opened in the restaurant just in time for Eid.

“There has been a wonderful ambience during Ramadan. People come in to open their fast here and they stay on as late as they want to.

“The great thing about Spinningfields is that there are a lot of authentic restaurants that hail from so many different parts of the world.

“There is an incredible buzz here.”
