Director Dibakar Banerjee, along with lead actor Sushant Singh Rajput, launched the second trailer of highly anticipated Detective Byomkesh Bakshy.

Sushant, dressed head to toe as Byomkesh Bakshy, made a grand “vintage” entry along with Dibakar Banerjee.

The pair spoke excitedly about the significance of the villain in the movie – the nameless one – Yang Guang.

The film is based on Saradindu Bandyopadhyay’s well-known and successful fictional detective, Byomkesh Bakshy and is a contemporary interpretation of Calcutta during the 1940s.

A young, astute and intelligent Byomkesh, fresh out of college, pits himself against a mega world villain, depending more on his intuition and instinct rather than concrete proof, to solve the case, sometimes overstepping the law if that is what’’s needed.

The makers have also launched a new music video that shows how Sushant Singh transforms into the detective.

Sushant Singh told the Indian Express he was always interested in this particular movie, “It starts with reading the script. Once you read it, you get to know the intent of the filmmaker and why this character is so important to the script.

“There are so many ways to approach a character. You have to figure out the similarities between you and the character, build on them and at the same time blur the dissimilarities.”

Director Banerjee said, “Raymond Chandler once described a detective roughly as a good man in a bad, bad world, hiding his goodness.

“He is cynical and hard-bitten, who knows how bad this world can be.

“But the truth is, under all that hard-bitten cynicism and that worldly smirk there lies a hero you may count on story after story, year after year, to do the right thing.”
