2014 was the year of the sequels but it seems that may be changing as we head in to 2015.

Bollywood is hoping to offer some original ideas in the new year.

Amitabh Bachchan may well be the best side of 60 but he remains one of the biggest draws in the film industry.

In ‘Shamitabh’ he has teamed with director R Balki. In ‘Piku’, directed by Shoojit Sircar, Bachchan and actress Deepika Padukone are together as father and daughter for the second time.

His third release, ‘Wazir’, sees him opposite Farhan Akhtar.

One of the most highly anticipated movies of 2015 is ‘Bombay Velvet’.

‘Bombay Velvet’ is based on historian Gyan Prakash’s book ‘Mumbai Fables’ and follows the story of a boxer, Johnny Balraj, and an aspiring jazz singer, Rosie.

It also stars Anushka Sharma, Raveena Tandon, Kay Kay Menon and Siddharth Basu.

Producer Anurag Kashyap was inspired to make such a film after reading ‘L.A. Quartet’, a sequence of four crime fiction novels by James Ellroy set in the late 1940s through the late 1950s in Los Angeles.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s romantic-drama ‘Bajirao Mastani’ sees Deepika and Ranveer Singh together again after their blockbuster ‘Ram-Leela’ in 2013.

Shah Rukh Khan and Yash Raj Films release ‘Fan’ in the big summer offering.

SRK is also working on Raees, where his leading lady may be Pakistani actress Mahira Khan.

As for the sequels, the hit comedy ‘Singh is Kinng’ follow-up is titled ‘Singh Is Bling’ and stars Akshay Kumar and Kriti Sanon.

Another Akshay sequel is ‘Welcome Back’, the follow-up to ‘Welcome’.

Jagga Jasoos sees Ranbir stars opposite Katrina Kaif – their first film together in six years. Jagga Jasoos also stars veteran Govinda.
