PUPILS from Al-Islah Girls’ School celebrated achieving top grades.

The school, based in Blackburn, continues to have strong links with the community which has supported the school since 1995. New head teacher, Zarina Seedat said: “Al-Islah values good morals and manners which are the cornerstone of the school.

“We lay strong emphasis on guiding our students towards a future career path where they can achieve and face a bright future and above all be helpful, charitable and kind to all humanity.

“The school also has a strong home-school partnership where everyone promotes positive attitudes towards school and learning.”

In recent GCSE results the school celebrated excellent pass rates in maths which rose by 23 per cent; Additional Science by 49 per cent; Arabic by 78 per cent and Urdu by 17 per cent.

Among some of the successes were: Farhana Lunat, the school’s head girl, 10As and 1 grade B.

Faheema Lunat – 6As, 1B, 2 grade Cs • Zuha Ali – 1 A*, 5As, 2Bs and 1 grade C.

Anisa Iqbal – 4As and 6 grade Bs.

Badriya Omar – 1A*, 4As, 3Bs and 1 grade C.

The school has an effective governing board which has developed long-term plans for the school with clear priorities and they are engaged with the community and the wider school sector.
