You know the system has kind of broken down when a jihadist tweets about split ends.

Not any old split ends though. The more serious and perilous split ends that manifest in his beard.

According to the man’s Twitter profile he is ‘currently fighting in Syria, to make the word of Allah the highest!’ The jihadist has taken to Twitter to share his hairy woes to his 5,740 followers. Only to be retweeted 20 times and receive nine favourites.

“My beard’s got split ends. What to do?!”

Indeed, what to do? Where are the vociferous online warriors when you need them?

Who knew that sectarian fighting and striving to establish a caliphate requires such stringent grooming as part of the jihadist manifesto.

Which leads me to wonder, how many more bearded men face this inconvenient and arduous dilemma?

Clearly, a few, as the tweet induced many a response, including the following helpful tweet; “not a beard expert, but when we get split ends in our hair we trim half an inch or so. They grow back quicker and healthier.” Of all the things to be worried about when fighting in Syria, an unruly beard, a hirsute face and split ends is not really on the high end of priorities.

Are jihadists allowed to indulge in such banal acts of triviality? Does that not contravene a religious code of conduct?

And if a woman in hijab tweeted about sweating profusely in the hot weather under her head scarf, would she receive empathetic tweets in response? The Twitter account individual’s narcissistic rhetoric is in complete contradiction to the outrageous remit given to the all-female unit of ISIS who are parading the northern Syrian streets of Raqqa and arresting any woman who is outdoors without a relevant chaperone, or not wearing the headscarf correctly.

It’s one bizarre extreme to another.

The al-Khansaa’ Brigade have been told to, “raise awareness among women, and arrest and punish women who do not follow the religion correctly. Jihad is not a man-only duty. Women must do their part as well.”

Perhaps the Twitter man can clarify what category of jihad male grooming falls under.
