An Islamic Lifestyle Exhibition attracted a thousand visitors after it took place in Lancashire for the first time.

The event was held at Jan’s Conference Centre in Blackburn and featured around 60 exhibitors from Islamic wear to Health professionals.

Held in the run-up to Ramadan, the exhibition aimed to showcase local organisations and specialist businesses.

Among the areas there was an education zone, a health and well being zone, and a travel zone.

The region’s most successful secondary school Tauheedul High School supported the event.

Members of the International Learning Movement (ILM) hosted the special kids’ zone, where all money raised from face painting was donated to charity.

The health zone was sponsored by One Voice and it included Humraaz, Deaf Aware, Refresh Health Check, Cardiac Rehabilitation, Bowel Cancer Screening, Elements Health and Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service.

There was also information on organ donation, forced marriage, drugs and alcohol.

Firoza Mohmed from Humraaz told us, “The Islamic Lifestyle Event was a great opportunity for Humraaz in partnership with One Voice to raise awareness of the criminalising of Forced Marriage that came into force on the June 16 and the work that is carried out within our service. “A range of services that are available came together under one venue with staff available to give advice or signpost. “A wonderful warm and welcoming atmosphere was created for better health and wellbeing.”

The travel zone was organised in association with Arif Hajj and Umrah of Brierfield. Representatives were on hand to share their expert advice to those going on the annual pilgrimage.

They were joined by Bolton based the Council of British Hajjis.

Rashid Mogradia from organisation said: "We congratulate the organisers of the Islamic Lifestyle Exhibition for this great initiative. It was a productive day enabling team CBHUK to engage directly with prospective hajjis and raise brand awareness.

“We look forward to next year’s event.”
