The average cost of a wedding in the UK is just over £18.000.

From the understated Zuckerburg wedding to the kitsch nuptials of Kim Kardashian, no matter what your financial firepower, the wedding is a day to remember.

Nafisa Jiva has been working with Stage Solutions Ltd for over a decade.

Nafisa said: “The wedding industry has not been as hard hit by the recession as other sectors.

“A wedding is not an impulse purchase.

“It is an occasion that families save up for years.

“And as is au fait with Asian weddings, tradition and culture play a big part.”

“I have been doing this for 10 years. Even when I was at university, I was working with Stage Solutions part-time.

“I did a graphics design course and got a first in it.

“Everything I learnt in my degree helps me at work.

“My parents were adamant that I graduated before working. And as far as I was concerned, there was no point in getting anything less than a first.

“I apply that same ethos at work. I’m a stickler for high standards.

“The final result has to be absolutely perfect.”

The experience of organising a wedding is undoubtedly a stressful one and a world unto itself embroiled with high emotions.

Nafisa continued: “We’ve all heard of Bridezillas. But Groomzillas do exist!

“Naturally every bride wants something different, something so unique that hasn’t been seen before.

“Whether it is something entirely innovative or emulating a scene from a movie, we will ensure that we achieve that final look.

“Generally brides give me their brief and then they leave me to it.

“They won’t see the final result until the big day.

“Thankfully they have always been thrilled with what they see.

“There is a huge sense of accomplishment after any event.

“We are so engrossed with all the pedantic detail on the actual stage itself. Once we step off the stage and look at the result of all that work, we often get overwhelmed.”

As social media is an increasingly vital tool for any business, Nafisa reiterates its effectiveness as a source of leads and new prospects.

“We have never had to advertise, it’s all word of mouth.

“We use social media, particularly Facebook as a means to share photos of what we have created. People love looking at pictures of weddings, brides and the decoration.

“From our Facebook page, you can see that each stage we have created is authentic.

“I draw inspiration from my surroundings. Even if I see a pretty card, or flowers, I always wonder how I can translate that into a stage setting.

“The best thing about this job is that no one day will ever be the same.

“It is exciting, challenging and most importantly, I get to do what I love.

“Stage Solutions Limited recently won the Asian Wedding Experience award for ‘Venue and Stage decorator of the Year.’ But I couldn’t attend the event to collect the award as I was working!

“Here’s the paradox… I never get to attend weddings that I am invited to as I am always creating wedding stages for other brides!”
